The house is a one story, gable and wing dwelling with cross gable roof of corrugated metal, weatherboard and board and batten siding. It has two interior chimneys, a partial width porch with shed roof, and 1/1 double hung sash windows.
The Johnson-Rawlinson House was built circa 1867 on what is now County Road 64 near Pine Flat. The builder was Confederate veteran James L. Johnson. The home is a typical example of the "L" or "Bent" house. It has a 3-bay front and weatherboard siding, and a shed roof porch across the side gabled portion supported by simple squared posts. It was placed on the Alabama Register in 1996.
