You can come to The Heritage Center. The Heritage Center, operated by Autauga County Heritage Association , is the clearing house for Autauga County History and Genealogy. The computer and most of the documents were donated by ACHA to Prattville Library. The collection was loaned to the Heritage Center due to a shortage of staff and space at the library. The Heritage Center is managed exclusively by ACHA. No other group or organization contributes toward paying for the books, photocopying, indexing, binding, repairing, maintaining, or making the materials available to the public.

You can order copies of probate records. Probate Records must be ordered directly from the Probate Office. While searching the on-line databases, note the Book Name, i.e., Will, Deed, etc., the Person's Name, the Book Number and Page Number. You will need this information when communicating with the Probate Office.

It is suggested that you call the Probate Office Records Clerk at 334-361-3732

Please Note: When talking with the Records Clerk remember that their primary job is not catering to genealogical researchers, but to maintaining the records and working with the legal community and others requiring copies of legal documents.

Please keep these point in mind when calling:

  1. Your courtesy and respect will pay dividends.
  2. Remember that the Probate Office does not do genealogical research.
  3. Have a list ready. You MUST have SPECIFIC book and page numbers ready before you call.
  4. Ordering too many copies will only slow down what you will receive and could block you from receiving anything.
  5. Do not tell stories or try to engage in long discussions. Their time is very valuable.
